Dear Readers,
If I get a C+ (don't tell my dad) in o chem and then retake it and get an A, will the admissions committee for grad school see my C+ or just my A?
This is a purely hypothetical situation, not relating at all to the current status of my life.
Although it'd be really nice if someone knew the answer to that question.

I was talking to my roommate the other day about my *ahem* disappointing first year of college, and he inferred that I could retake all those classes to significantly raise my GPA (for the purpose of getting into a good grad school). So, according to him, it seems like you could make that theoretical C+ disappear, but I am not absolutely certain.
Sad that I know the answer to this question. Your grade will always remain on your transcript, but your GPA will be raised.

Well Katie, I had to retake Chem 1110 at UVU twice and my advisor said that I should retake a higher level class instead so I wouldn't have to take it for the 3rd time (I only need an A to get into the nursing program). Because they will notice how many times it took you to take the class. I don't know if they would be able to see both of your grades.
Umm I know here at BYUI that if you take a class twice for a higher grade it erases the first time you took it...hence why I ended up dropping a class after the drop date and took a W, cause now I am taking it on this tour and the W will be erased!

Yes, the last grade will still show. But it won't count to your GPA. So if you retake it, it shows that yes, you've taken it twice and yes, the first time you got a C+. But when they calculate your GPA it'll be as if it isn't there, and you just got whatever it is you got your second time around.
I admire your resolution to raise your grade. My C+ in ochem will probably always stay there, as the thought of retaking that class makes me want to cry.

i don't think i could sit through the same course twice! of course you can add me, but only because you seem to appreciate mc hammer enough. did you have your sleepover yet? i'm so sad about that :(
