I get a letter from Madame Moreau back in Toulouse, and I order myself a picture book with my Amazon.com credit (with free two day shipping, I love Amazon Prime), and I pick up stuff from the stockroom with Curtis, and I feel a lot better.
So...this is me saying do-over on this afternoon.

the night is darkest just before the dawn
My oscillation between despair and joy continues, as this afternoon I'm feeling significantly better about life.
461 homework is done (thank you thank you thank you Dave).
391 paper is...getting there...
French doesn't feel too daunting
and neither does lab.
So, what did we learn kiddies?
Katie should try harder not to freak out about school all the time.
I read Romans 8 last week, and I really like a lot of the verses in there:
18: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.
26: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
31: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can prevail against us?
35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors though him that loved us.
38: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor pricipalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
May I add "nor 391 papers, nor 461 homework, nor post lab quizzes, nor sleepless nights, nor feelings of inadequacy shall be able to separate us from the love of God"?
Everything will work out. Things will get better. The semester will end.
I have been so richly blessed. If school is all I have to worry about, life is not so bad.
It's just hard to remember that sometimes.

sweet relief
Disregard the last post. It has been found, thanks to my habit of never turning my phone on silent, just to alarm only. It went off at 7:25 this morning much to my joy, and I spent about three minutes trying to figure out where it was coming from. It was in the lining of my coat, thanks to a hole in my pocket. Whew, whew, whew.
Lucky Chinese charm, you are awesome.

rummaging for answers

I went. I watched. I loved.
"(500) Days of Summer."
(aka "Amélie"* of the US)
Except "Amélie" is pure agony until the very end and then it's absolutely wonderful.
And "(500) Days of Summer" oscillates repeatedly between absolutely heartbreaking and absolutely perfect.
I think the reason why I loved it so much was because I am afraid I will become Summer.
But Summer ended up all right in the end.
And I will too.
P chem** finals and bad karma and all.
*Did anyone else think that part where Tom falls asleep in the theater and inserts himself into a movie just screams Amelie? Or the omniscient narrator who tells us all these random details at the very beginning? Or the cinematography? Or the part where Tom walks down the street, and it becomes an illustration?
**It's over! Now all I have left is French, American Christianity, Gold Bar Latin, and Physics...

Sweet Relief!
My audition, nor my tears were featured on my city's audition episode for "So You Think You Can Dance."
I couldn't be happier!
It was actually fun to watch and see people I knew in the background of different shots. You could also see me and Bradley sitting in the background during someone else's audition. haha, that's definitely how I'd prefer it.
It's all over with, and it was totally no big deal after all.
Whew!
