everything's not lost

I realized the other day when I was lost in blog stalking land that when I discover the blog of someone I used to know, I like it when I can quickly ascertain what they're up to these days.

So, here you go, stalkers. This is what I'm up to these days:

Aaron's back in school, I am back in TAing (no more classes forever!). I'm the head TA for the gen chem lab this semester, and I sort of like it a lot. Today Aaron took his first test of the semester: cardiology. It's his hobby (or at least that's what he said on a get-to-know-you sheet in organic chemistry class several years ago), and he's Aaron, so he probably rocked it. We met up for lunch and got macarons at my beloved Sugar Philly dessert truck. I'm doing some pretty fun things in lab trying to get my protein crosslinked intramolecularly, and it's making lots of lovely colors. The lovely colors are probably a bad sign, but I'm enjoying it, and that's [not actually] what counts [in grad school]! This weekend we're going to a church party and my labmate/mentor's wedding. My last post aside, I really love parties, especially ones where you get to dance (wedding!!!).

Also, I really like the Coldplay song that is the title of this post.
And...that's all I have to say tonight.

this is a post about posts

I wrote a list of things I want to write about, but haven't gotten around to yet:

Mom sticking it to the MAN (also known as the school district),

delicious food pictures,

my conflicted feelings on Trader Joe's and the Rittenhouse Square Saturday farmers market,

the 6 inches of split ends I have currently and my reluctance to make a hair appointment (Philly people- salon recommendations?),

Aaron making homemade ricotta cheese against my wishes,

my lack of friends who've read Game of Thrones (which I can't in good conscience actually recommend to anyone, but I need to talk to someone about these stupid books that I CANNOT STOP READING),

listening to people in lab bash on Republicans for half an hour ("I f'ing hate them") and now I want to hang up a Romney poster above my desk just to be spiteful,

flirting with switching over to Wordpress. Oops, I sort of already did: fromthemindofkatie.wordpress.com

I better start writing.

wrapped right around my melon

Thank goodness for headbands.

You know what I really hate? Waking up and taking a shower and thinking to yourself, "Oh, I don't need to wash my hair today, I washed it yesterday!" And then getting out and realizing that, yes, yes you did need to wash your hair because it is incredibly greasy. You start asking yourself, How come I can't go two days without washing my hair anymore?! Did I run my fingers through it too many times yesterday because I was so proud of myself for straightening my hair for the first time this week and it was so clean and wonderful? This is all running through my head as I try to fight the urge to wash my hair in the sink this morning. And then, I realize, hey, I have a wide headband sitting in a drawer somewhere. And that will fix everything.

It did. Let it be known that today was the first day in a long time that the world has seen my forehead, bang-free.
Praise be unto headbands for masking greasy hair.

(I would almost feel really silly about writing an entire post on this, but then I think of Rachel writing an entire lame song about headbands, and I don't feel as dumb. Yay Glee!)

quiet

Why, hello bloggers. This is me, Katya/Katie writing from my newly embraced gmail account rather than the hotmail one I've been using for years. I'm in the process of switching my four (how did I end up with four blogs? holy cow) blogs over to this account, but in the meantime, if anything seems odd, that is why.

And I do believe I have more to say on other topics, but as it is 12:56, I'll be getting up at 5:30, and I'm still working on stuff for chem lit, well...this is good bye.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Errr...(I'm feeling British today)

Hmmm.
You know, I'm almost constantly writing blog posts in my head (anyone else do that?), but I really can't think of anything to say. I've been really lazy politically lately....have been deleting all of my Washington Post emails without even reading them, barely skimming my Glenn Beck newsletter, and I've got 6 (maybe 8? can't remember) Bill O'Reilly podcasts to which I have yet to listen.
Pretty much I've been doing exactly what I wished for some four months ago. My time is equally split between practice at the RB and working in the lab (although it's been a little tipped to the RB side lately...).
And now I have to go back to practice.
This post really didn't have any point, it's just been a few days since I've written anything publishable...I wrote a couple of things earlier this week, but they were definitely only meant for my eyes.

Vegas comp is in: 1 day
Embassy is in: 14 days
I move into my apartment in: 14 days
Classes start in: 19 days

Chapstick and Chapped Lips and Things Like Chemistry

It's now less than a month until school starts and in honor of that, I have changed my blog template to a more festive layout. Enjoy!

Land Ho!

I'm back on land, but not back at home yet.
I'm at my grandma's again, waiting to eat lunch and then begin the awful drive home....we'll probably get back around midnight tonight. yuckyuckyuckyuckyuckyuck.
More on the cruise to come. It was a blast. :)
