pennnnnnnn

Philadelphia =

And it's a darn good thing because Aaron got accepted at Penn last week! And now I'm here in the city (having survived an all alone red eye flight + layover in Atlanta, I'm so brave) for the chem department's open house! And it's so great!

More later. Must sleep [in a bed...and not an airplane seat]

so the budget for this was...$100,000? and brendan fraser acted for free?

I have never doubted Rotten Tomatoes ratings until now.

Because apparently "Journey to the Center of the Earth" got a 68%?! How?! Maybe it's better in 3D. Or better if you're not working on solving double integrals using summations while watching. Seriously though, these special effects are terrible. I can't believe this came out in 2008.

Anyway.
Back to math.

fierce

I sort of wish I needed Aura hairspray and eyelash glue and had orange skin and 1.5" long nails this weekend. That's all.

out of print

For my birthday I got this awesome t-shirt of one of my favorite novels:

This company sells all of these different shirts with sweet designs of classic novels, and for every shirt you buy, they donate a book to a community in need through Books for Africa. Anyway, I love this shirt with all my heart. I'm dying a little bit to buy this one too:
Because who doesn't want to bring literacy to Africa?!!
(and look really cute and intelligent while doing it?!)

wrapped right around my melon

Thank goodness for headbands.

You know what I really hate? Waking up and taking a shower and thinking to yourself, "Oh, I don't need to wash my hair today, I washed it yesterday!" And then getting out and realizing that, yes, yes you did need to wash your hair because it is incredibly greasy. You start asking yourself, How come I can't go two days without washing my hair anymore?! Did I run my fingers through it too many times yesterday because I was so proud of myself for straightening my hair for the first time this week and it was so clean and wonderful? This is all running through my head as I try to fight the urge to wash my hair in the sink this morning. And then, I realize, hey, I have a wide headband sitting in a drawer somewhere. And that will fix everything.

It did. Let it be known that today was the first day in a long time that the world has seen my forehead, bang-free.
Praise be unto headbands for masking greasy hair.

(I would almost feel really silly about writing an entire post on this, but then I think of Rachel writing an entire lame song about headbands, and I don't feel as dumb. Yay Glee!)

3 for 3

Oh, and I got good news in a letter last night!

I got accepted into Wash U's masters (is there an apostrophe there? I can never decide) in teaching program!
And I have until April 15th to decide what exactly it is that I will be doing for the next 2-5 years of my life, oh, and what exactly I want to do for a career.

AhhhhhHHHhhhhhhhh.
Too indecisive for such deadlines!

today's color palette: ripe lemon and plum, with a hint of metallic

Isn't that plum purple on the second photo beautiful? And the shine on that third photo! I'm telling you, I spend 6 hours a week in Chem 518 making glitter.

At the end of the semester I'm going to line up all of my little vials of compounds I've made in the order of the rainbow and take a picture and it will be so beautiful I won't be able to stop typing really long sentences with way too many clauses and too few commas.

In case you're curious, that little football shaped thing in the second and third photo is a magnetic stir..egg..I guess you could call it. We put it in the beaker with all of your starting materials on top of a magnetic stir plate so that your reaction solution gets stirred! Pretty cool.
