the status is not quo

I just wanted to let it be known that after 2.5 years of marriage and much struggle, I finally convinced Aaron to watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Spoiler alert: he loved it, probably because he's now a big fan of Neil Patrick Harris after watching six seasons of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix.

Something about singing dwarfs just really speaks to my soul. Did you see it? Did you like it? I like Bilbo a lot more than I like Frodo. He's a cute hobbit. Also, isn't Galadriel great? I just love the elves. I wish they got more screen time.

I went to a party at a chemistry friend's house last night, and I couldn't find a single person who had read Game of Thrones, which was all I really wanted out of that evening. Instead, everyone talked about alcohol, and I watched some people play Duck Hunt on an original Nintendo. Kind of a bummer. I think I was better at BYU parties.

sooooexcited. But I haven't been able to find an actual air date yet. When I was stranded in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport all night, I watched the last three episodes of this series via my mom's Netflix account. Is there anything more epic than the agni kai between Azula and Zuko? Than the showdown between Phoenix King Ozai and Aang? I submit that there is not. Except maybe this exchange, which is probably my favorite:

This Saturday a bunch of chemists and I got together and baked the periodic table. That's 118 cookies guys! And you know what's really awesome? We were able to pipe the lettering for every element except the Uux ones from memory.

I think someone should just give us our PhDs now.

(By the way, Mindy Kaling's book was really good! I read it all in one sitting yesterday afternoon and couldn't stop laughing. It was just the thing to cheer me up after my disastrous organometallics test.)

I can't believe that classes start tomorrow. Ever since I can remember I've anticipated the first day of school, starting to get myself mentally prepared weeks in advance. This time around it feels like it snuck up on me. I'm pretty sure I'm only taking physics 220 and chem 462 for my major classes this semester....but....I would really, really, really, really like to take 455. And maybe I still will...haven't dropped it yet...but probably will...I'm planning on auditioning for dance classes during the class time tomorrow. I've a million things running around in my head: what to wear (yeah, I still do the whole lay-out-your-back-to-school-outfit-the-night-before thing), what colored notebooks I want to use for which classes (I just really like color coordination), whether to shower tonight or tomorrow morning, what to pack for a lunch, what shirt to wear for dance auditions, what time to get up, how to do my hair (just as important as the back-to-school-first-day-outfit), what to take (!!!), etc etc etc.......

I get a little silly about back to schoolness. I just like everything to go well...it's a good omen for the rest of the semester, ya know?

Fingers crossed it'll be awesome. I have a good feeling about Fall '09....

Wordplay

I had this idea.

I used to write down words all the time when I was reading that I didn't know or wasn't exactly sure what the definition was and then I'd look them up later. BUT, I never actually used them in conversation after that, so I never remembered what they meant. This is what I'm going to do: I'm going to make a list of seven words that are really cool (either in meaning or sound) and then use one each day in conversation randomly. Then, I'm going to write up a blog post for each of them describing how I used the word and the weird looks people gave me.

Fun, no?

Yay for boggle/scrabble/reads "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" (highly recommend it if you're into punctuation) grammar nerdiness!
